My name is Albert. I am 65 years old and was diagnosed 10 years ago with peripheral
artery disease. I have been experiencing constant claudication’s and cramps in my calf that
have affected my quality of life and restricted my walking distance to 100 yards. The pain
was very severe and I could not go out without a walking aid and my wife support by holding
onto my arm, also experienced shortness of breath, and made me to search for a bench to
sit down, after sitting down my pain soon disappeared and was able to regain my breath but
made me realise that I was not safe to help with gardening and domestic work around the
house, it made me feel useless and very low in mood, my farm is my life. I suffer with
hypertension, taking medications in the morning and in the evening, also my Ankle Brachial
Pressure Index score was 0.5. I suffered with Myocardial Infarct 11 years ago, I wish I could
have started attending this clinic as soon as I have mild intermittent claudication.
Following my first treatment at the clinic 10 years ago, my blood pressure dropped from
150/80mmHg down to 100/60mmHg, I felt dizzy, lightheaded and was asked to spend 20
minutes in the resting area and the nurse encouraged me to drink plenty of fluid. I responded
to the treatment immediately and was asked to wait for the consultant advise before leaving
the clinic. I was advised to hydrate well on my return to my accommodation, rest for 4 hours
and NOT to take my evening blood pressure medication and wait with the morning
medication.
Following this instruction on my second day my blood pressure was 120/70mmHg on arrival
and remained the same after the treatment that is 30 minutes. I was instructed to take the
medication at lunch time ONLY.
My Ankle Brachial Index is in the normal range now, 0.9 and I do not suffer with claudication,
pain, shortness of breath, I regained my confidence to walk unaided, am able to walk up the
hill without stopping and able to look after my garden, also my wife and I can plan
sightseeing trips, lastly I am allowed to drink a small amount of red vine every day which has
always been part of my life.
I attend the clinic twice a year and stay for 10-15 days, I travel with my wife over 150 miles,
we take a train and a local bus and participate in local sightseeing that organised here
locally.
I am more health orientated, I wish to enjoy my life and would like to spend my retirement in
my own home rather being looked after by my wife or being looked after by carers at home
or in a nursing home. I was reassured by the nurses and the doctors that this treatment is
slowing the progression of the diseases, I will not be able to come off the medication fully but
by reducing the doses means that the side effects are less severe.
My name is Adam. I am 62years old. I was diagnosed with coronary artery stenosis
and peripheral artery disease (with an index score of 0.5). I went through a triple
coronary artery bypass surgery in 2011. Prior to that I was experiencing chest pain,
shortness of breath and fatigue and was unable to walk and literally became house
bound.
Following the surgery, I felt constantly fatigued and (sadly) could not to return to
work. My cardiologist recommended that I visit the clinic. I now travel 200 miles, with
my wife, twice a year, to go to the clinic and have been attending the clinic since
2011.
During the treatment I experience tingling in my legs and arms and also feel that my
extremities are warmer and I start sweating within couple minutes. My wife and I
usually relax after the treatment for at least 2 hours. We pay attention to our
hydration levels as the clinic recommends plenty of fluid intake to allow the
capillaries to refill.
I can now walk without limitation. Walking up the hill is not a challenge anymore and
I attend exercise classes, as per my cardiologist recommended, to maintain my
health and wellbeing.
I can fulfil my dream to spend time with my family and enjoy visiting places at home
and abroad.
I will carry on attending the clinic twice a year to maintain my circulation and reduce
my risk of further cardiovascular events.
I recommend this treatment for everyone. Better to start early rather than later when
you have already developed medical conditions which you may not even be aware
of.

My name is Anna. I am 84 years old. I am one the oldest clients at the clinic. I am
attending the clinic because I have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease.
The pain was excruciating and was radiating into my calf. I could not sleep at night
and was experiencing cramps. I used to fell over when I got out of the bed as the
cramp was so bad. I also fractured my hip (which was not healing) and I needed a
surgery 2 years ago. I was taking pain killers which made me feel sick and confused
and I lost my appetite and ended up in the hospital for pain management. I could not
see how to get out of this vicious circle. I had no quality of life. My days were about
constant pain management> I could not even go to church and I lost so many
friends.
My orthopedic surgeon liaised with his fellow vascular surgeon and following a
consultation they agreed that I should attend this clinic. I was very anxious, as I did
not know anyone, and I did not know what to expect. I might not have come here on
my own but my daughter cane with me initially.
I met Albert and his wife (Vivien) and Joseph here. We all became good friends and
now we take a train and a local bus and participate in local sightseeing. I must say, I
do not always fancy going out but I do enjoy other people’s company. I live on my
own so attending this clinic gives me a chance to meet other people.
The claudication and the neuropathic pain has gone and I am on the way to
recovery! I need one more course to attend to get my ankle brachial pressure result
into the normal range.
Arthritic pain is devastating and I just do not want to face the pain ever again. My
scores were 9 out of 10 and now it is down to 3 out of 10: due to this treatment, that
does not involve injections, has no risk of catching infections, and does not involve
taking tablets. I now can manage my pain better because now I am more mobile and
being able to move around the house helps to take my mind off the pain.
I recommend this clinic to everyone. I advise to start it as soon as possible! I think
about it as a holiday and my daughter pays for my accommodation in advance. My
best birthday present is a trip to this clinic where I could regenerate and feel
energized.

My name is Joseph. I am 65 years old and retired. I was diagnosed with high blood
pressure, pre-diabetes and erectile dysfunction, 20 years ago. I was not always
compliant with my medication, especially when I worked at night as I used to forget
to take my tablets or was not sure if I took it).
In 2010, I suffered with a mini stroke. My blood pressure was very high as well as my
blood glucose. The doctors and the nurses explained the importance of taking my
medication regularly and made me aware of the risk of facing further strokes (that
may well be devastating not just for myself but for my family too).
My friend Albert, who has been coming to this clinic for the last 10 years, told me
how well he feels after the treatments. His blood pressure goes down and his
walking distance improves within a couple of days. I have not been experiencing
difficulties with walking but do experience pins and needles and mild pain in my calf.
Albert, his wife and I usually book the clinic appointments together as we live in the
same town which is 150 miles away from the clinic. We take a train and a local bus
and participate in local sightseeing that is organized here locally.
We always come twice a year for a 30 minutes treatment over 15 days. The staff
members know us well. Everyone is kind and respects our dignity and privacy and
they alway advise us if we need to change the dosage of the medication. We also
have met lots of people here with similar conditions to ours. We have talked to
people who were due to have their leg amputated but because of their circulation
improvement have has their legs saved and their quality of life improved. We have
seen people with oedematous legs. Leg ulcers are very common but arthritis is also
one of the most debilitating conditions.
Personally, I feel that after the treatment I have more energy. My blood pressure and
blood glucose can change when I am at the clinic and my GP usually sends me back
to the endocrinologist for an annual review. My eyesight greatly improved and
always gets better after a month or so and lasts for a good 6 months. I live alone and
do not always follow the recommended diet as I enjoy my wine (but do not smoke). I
feel I found a lifestyle that suits me and my doctors are happy as I do not need to
see them regularly. They usually call me in for a check-up at least 2-3 months after
my clinic appointment and adjust my medication. I am committed to attend this clinic
because I can see and feel that progression of my medical conditions has been
slowed by the treatments.

My name is Andrew. I am 52 years old. I was a kitchen chef for more than 30 years. This involved a lot of standing and working late. I was diagnosed with varicose veins, high blood pressure and diabetes at age 45. The medication I was given came with side effects such as: putting on weight, a dry cough, unable to perform in bed and night time cramps.
I also developed small blisters, on my shin. These were always itchy and they got infected and turned into leg ulcers. The leg ulcers, and the pain, and the smell of the wound was unbearable. I was unable to work. My wound did not heal for months and my legs were dressed by the nurse, sometimes twice a day. The worst part was when the dressing was removed: the pain was excruciatingly painful. I used to scream and so very anxious of each dressing change. The nurse tried her best to be careful but due to her workload she needed to be fast and there was no time to discuss how I felt. I could not think clearly due to the pain killers and due to the pain.
As I was off from work for a long time I was made redundant and was told that I could not return due to infection control considerations. I was house bound, depressed and isolated, and the odour of my house was off putting; so friends did not visit.
I first heard from the clinic from a family friend whose father was due to have his leg cut off in 2000.
He attended the clinic and his circulation improved and his pain reduced and his leg was saved! I liaised with my doctor and requested a referral. The doctor had to declare that I was safe to travel with my leg ulcers. My GP booked me hospital transport but I needed to secure my own accommodation. I found accommodation locally and started my 15 days treatment in 2015.
At the clinic each client to needs to have their blood pressure measured (by the nurse), and have a quick consultation with the doctor there, before the 30 minute treatment can start. The treatment involves sitting in a dry bath, safely strapped to the seat with a seatbelt, wearing loose clothing and open shoes. I was allowed to go into the dry CO2 bath with dressings on my legs, but no shoes. I started to feel tingling in my feet and a warmth and heat. My blood pressure was taken after the treatment too. I repeated this process for 15 days.
I started to notice that my wound shape changed, the oozing got less and the odour improved. I left the clinic with a healed ulcer and my ulcer hasn’t returned since 2015 because I chose to attend the clinic twice a year to prevent my condition deteriorating.
I managed to secure a job as a postman in 2016 and have regained my quality of life. I have made new friends, at the clinic, and now we are arranging our sessions at the same time and exploring local areas if we are up to it. My leg ulcer has never returned. My diabetes and blood pressure is better managed as I am more active. I am able to drive and have no need for hospital transport. I am more health orientated, nowadays. My physical and mental health is my priority as I wish to spend my retirement, at home, surrounded by my family rather in a nursing home
Hi, my name is Martin. I'm 58 years old. I am English. I've had issues… or marginally high blood pressure issues… for about 10 years. I have been taking prescription tablets for hypertension. I also recently had a bit of heartbeat irregularity which may have been caused by Covid.
Taking a very low dose of prescription drug to relax the heart muscle. Notwithstanding I've had seen Erectile Dysfunction creep up on me a little unawares over the last few years. I have been very busy with work. Long days and a lot of sitting fronts of the screen.
What else will I say?
I was quite fit beforehand and rowed competitively. Still cycle a lot. I still walk a lot. I do a lot of DIY. I'm not unwell.
I've been taking the carbon dioxide “bath” treatment on and off for the last 5 years. It seemed to reduce my blood pressure.
You need to hydrate a lot with it as well. I had problems with kidney stones in the recent past caused by not drinking enough water. Generally, the cardiovascular or vascular issues are managed better with good hydration and good diet. I'm not showing signs of having diabetes but I have genetic hemachromatosis. So high blood iron, but that's being managed by blood donation.
The CO2 treatment that I've had that seems to be the most effective when taken twice a day for about a week. Maybe you might want to do it twice a day for a week, but twice a day for a week seemed to be beneficial. Sometimes during the treatment week you might wake up in the morning with an erection. Although not always. Certainly after a week or two or three, you notice there's a difference in the frequency of your erection. I would say that the effect probably lasts in my case for about a month or two. But maybe I'm not hydrating enough? Maybe I'm not being active enough? But I am pretty confident that the improvement relates to the carbon dioxide treatment.
I know that some of the blood pressure drugs can have a negative effect. I would recommend the CO2 treatment as certainly worth trying. Take a holiday. Relax. Take in the countryside. Take the treatment first thing and lunch time and then enjoy the rest of the day.
Not a really expensive treatment when you think or compare chiropractic or osteopath bills.
The accommodation is lovely. It's a nice big house. Well appointed. Nice shower. Lovely gardens and a big field at the back where you can watch the sunset against the rolling hills. It's very picturesque. It is a small town not very far from the clinic. You might hire a car and then you go and see places in the afternoon. Eger is interesting. You can go to the highest point in Hungary too. Take it as holiday. Read a book. Watch some Netflix. Take a spa treatment locally.
